WAITOA ROAD BOARD.
Tnrc ordinary monthly meeting of the Wuitoa Road Board was held at tlie Phoenix Hotel, Morvinßville, on Saturday last. Present : Messi'3 J, Horrell, H. Burnett, J. Turnbull, The chair* man, Mr W. P. Chepmell, was unavoidably absent, and Mr Horrell was voted to the chair. Minutes of the last meeting wer rend nnd confirmed. Correspondence : — The Cleric read the letter from the Board to the Assistant Surveyor General, with reference to the communication re P. Dillons complaint nnd the Board's acceptance of the terms for the deepening of the outfall drain to the Waihou river, near that property. From the Commissioner of Crown Lanus, with reference to the application of the Board for a gravel pit (situate on Block XXI, Te Aroha township), stating that a quarry site being already granted, the present application is declined. A plan was also forwarded showing a site on part of Block XV. The engineer said he thought this site had been granted to the Town Board. It was resolved upon the motion of Mr Burnett seconded by Mr Turnbull, That the Clerk write to the Commissioner of Crown Land g asking to what locnl body thejsite named has been granted. From W. J. McCormick, calling the Board's attention to the Ngtaniaunga road. (Parr's road). There are several bad holes from last summer's fires, and In-low the boundary with the Ohinemuri County there are about forty chains sciub that require cutting. He stated he wished to travel the road with a reaper and binder. It was resolved upon the motion of Mr Burnett, seconded by Mr Turnbnli, that the consideration of the matter be deferred until next meeting, the engineer meantime to inspect the road, From Wm, M. Hay, with reference to the survey, etc., of the «ond through Mr Goulds land near Kawhia, which had recently been dedicated to the Board. Resolved o»i the motion of Mr Turnbull, seconded by Mr Burnett, that the engineer prepare plans of this road, subject to the approval of the chairman, Mr Chepmell, to he forwarded to Mr Hay when completed. From Chns. Tuck, Chairman of the Pinko County Council, stating it was now necessary to expetid the rates received on account of native lands upon roads benefiting those lands. The Piako County Council purpose, whore practicable, to hand over to the several Road Boards, for expenditure upon such roads as the Council may determine, the amount received for tlie%said rates \uthin their respective districts. > He asked if the Board would bo willing to undertake the expenditure of the sum of £4(5 8s Gd (that being the amount receivable on account of name lands within the Waihou riding), upon that portion of the Pinko Cambridge roa I running thiough Block XV, Mannsraknwa Survey District, and Blocks 111 and VI, Cambridge Survey Distiict, The money will be lodged with the Board as soon as received from the Colonial Treasurer. Upon the motion of Mr Burnett, seconded by the Chairman, it wns resolved that the Clerk reply that the Board would undertake to expend the money on the road named. Morrinsville-Maungatapu road • — Moved by Mr Burnett, seconded by Mr Turnbull : That the Engineer be instructed to have a bad portion of this road reformed at a cost not to exceed £5. Glass ford's road : It was nsolved upon the motion of Mr Turnbull, seconded by Mr Burnett, to form ahcufc 20 chains of this roadThe application of Jas. Taylor for permission to erect a gate on the Maunga-kawa-Morrinsville road was deferred until next meeting. Tenders : The following tenders were received for reforming 100 chains of Stanley road : — .W". Ward and party, 8s pcr 1 chain ; Jas. Munro, 53 lid : Owen MtfCabc, 5s 6d ; J. Shine, 5s ; S/Burge, 5s ; Thos. Stanley, 5s ; 0. Murphy, 4s 6d. Mr Burnett moved that the tender of C. Murphy be accepted. Seconded by Mr Turnbull and carried. Accounts : The following accounts were passed for payment : O. McOabe, on account of sanding contract, £20 ; Waikato Times, advertising, £1 4s ; T. Stauley, Grattan's road contract, £17 10s ; A. Bremner, clearing, work, etc, £2 3d ; J. Shaw, formation work, £15. Extension of time : Upon the motion' of the Chairman, seconded by Mr Barnett, it was resolved tQ extend the time of Jas. Orrs contract by a fortnight.
