Morrinsuille. [Own Correspondent.} Monday, Nov. 26.
Shearing on the Lockerbie estate will be finished in a day or two, between seven and eight thousand sheep have already been shorn. The manager, Mf Harrison, is having all the wool classed by an experienced wool-sorter ; and the latter states he has seldom seen so good an all round clip. I understand some of the fleeces have been sont to the Melbourne Exhibition . When they have completed their work here, the shearers next proceed to Matamata. A very heavy hailstorm passed over this district on Saturday evening last about five o'clock, and was succeeded en Sunday morning by quite a sharp frost, which has done considerable damage to vegotablo gardens — potatoes, pumpkins, French beans, mellons, etc., #being greatly cut down thereby. The examination of the Morrinsville public school took place on last Monday, Inspector Goodwin being the examiner. The result of the examination I will forward later on. Alter the examination was over the children were granted a holiday by the committee, and on Thursday were very kindly invited by Mr and Mrs Buttle to e pend the day at Annandale. Thoughtful preparations had been made for their comfort and enjoyment ; the day being spent in games and sports of various kinds, and the proceedings concluded with a grand tea ; good things of all sorts being provided, and were done full justice to, and all returned home well pleased uith their outing, and fully appreciating the kindness ot their entertainers. Amongst the ladies who ably assisted Mr and Mrs Buttle on the occasion were Mesdames Clifford, Williams, F. Marshall, Gant, and Snell. Saturday, December 15th, has been fixed as the date tor holding the next meeting in connection with tho local branch of the Blue liibbon Society.
Intending contractors are reminded that tenders close nt 2 p.rn on Saturday next, for the vnrions works adveitieed by the Champion G. and ,S. Minos, Liin.
