FIRE AT ROTORUA.
Rotokua, .November 26. Tin. Hospital attached to the wa& burned down la&t night at half-past 10' Tho whole building was destroyed in abou^ an hour, although there was plenty o water available. As usual, the fire plug could not be found. The patients were lescued. Tho work wa?, however, of great difficulty. One poor fellow, a patient, broke his leg in escaping. The loss to the Government is about £5,000. Mrs Taylor, the matron, and thepatientaare heavy loeei.s.
Wellington, Nov. 26. FURTHER * PARTICULARS. The Government have received the following telegram from Dr. Girdler's Medicul Officer in charge ab Rotorua • — "The Sanatorium buildings and Maori Hospitals were totally destroyed by fire lasfc nicrhb at 10.30. The patients were all right. Nothing was saved. The outbuildings, doctors houses' and blue bath were uninjured. The fire originated in the kitchen, but the cause is unknown at pre&ent. A southerly gale spread the lire with immense rapidity.
