OHINEMURI. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Paeroa, Friday.

Two highly successful concerts anil dances have taken place iv Oliinemuri duiing the pasfc week or so. Oa Friday evening last the Waitekauri people entertained » number of friends from the other districts, and ft most enjoyable evening was spent. Mr McConnell acted as M.C , and a nice supper was provided by Mes. lames Dunning, Dance, Bunting, and Pocock. A similar affair, but rather larger, took place at Owharoa on Weilneaday evening last, and was an unqualified success. The concert was a lengthy one, and included itoms by Misses Reid, Cummings, Wick, Ooote, McConoehio, Messrs Gapes, Brady, aad Grant, Mnste James Coote, and others. Miss Waite sang- a rery sweet song " I cannot give my hand where njy heart can never be;'' this young 1 lady has a charming voice. Misses Robson and Reid took charge of the instrument. The concert closed with a screatn-ng farce, entitled " Gruel for one." Dancing was kept up until daylight. I understand that Mr Geo. Crosby has decided to remain on the PaeroaTanranga road, although he has not been successful in obtaining the mail. The Waihi traffic is on the increase, and an effort i 3 to be made to induce tourists to make Ohinemuri their route to the Hofc Lakes. It would be hard to find better scenery than that of Waitawheta, Waitekauvi, and Karangahake. Considerable satisfaction is evinced by Paeroa township leaseholders at the result of the Te Aroha Land Court, held on Wednesday, when trustees were appointed for the minors who have shares in the township property. The trustees appointed are reliable men, and their appointment is regarded as a step in the direction of the present. leaseholders getting their i^newals without trouble. The present holder of the County Chairmanship, Mr W. G. Nicholls, is understood to bo unwilling to accept the office for the ensuing year, and tho seat will doubtless be occupied by another Councillor. During Mr Nicholls term of office he has earned " golden opinions from all sorts of people ;" indeed, it would, bo impossible to find a better chairman, He has attended the office nearly every day. It is to be hoped that the next incumbent of the seat will fulfil the position as satisfactory. In mining there is little new. The Waiwcrfl, schooner, landed 22,000 bricks at Paeroa, for Mr Walker during the Week. Reducing operations commence at Waihi about the 17th prox. The gutter Lee arrived at Paeroa on Thursday with bricks and coal for the Parkea furnace. A large lot of Onehunga irousand has also been received. The eastings for tho rotary furnace for Waihi arrived by Tlinisriay's Kotukn, and aie to be immediately carted out. They bora been made by Messrs Price Bros., Thames, aud appear to bo firstclass. 'I he tributers in the Martha Extended cleaned up on Wednesday for two months' run of 25 stamps as follows :—: — McKenna, 52^qzb ; V- Brown, 76ozs ; Chappell,.l6osss, « Average value, 48s ror oz. 1 The. owners of the Britannia, Waihi, are doing good work in their claim in sinking*, etc. Mr E. Qninn has starred with a small staff in the Silverton.

Flock owners not having a sheep dip of their own, osin have the use of one recently eroded at AnnandaJe, Piako, by payment of a small fee. See advl.
