MIRY PRODUCE FOR EXPORT. GOOD ADVICE TO COLONIALS. WELLINGTON, Nov. 17.

Mr W. D, Grant, the representativeof Boyd and Grant, produce importers, of Liverpool, who was in Auckland a few weeks ago, has since visited the dairing districts of the Island, arranging for the regular purchase of dairy produce. In an interview with the Minister of Lands yesterday, Mr Grant exgressed the opinion that the dairy farmers of New Zealand are not yet. able to make the best ot the splendid possibilities afc their disposal. The condition of the colony as regards its dairy produce development now is akin to what that of Canada was some 20 years ago. The Canadian system is now recognised as one of the most perfect in the world, but that was o?ily attained by State aid in the matter of technical education on the subject. The great drawback to New Zealand, however, says Mr Grant, is the persistent manner in which one part of the colony will place itself at the expense of the rest of the country, and the wholesale deprecation by New Zealanders themselves of the colony generally. If the Americana, he says, were to make a practice of runningdown that country as New Zealanders do theirs, it would very soon be nothing but a mud hole, as all capitalists would leave it. It is Mr Grant's intention to appoin an agency in the colony for the exportt trade with his firm, but it does not appear to besottlod as yet where tt.e headquarters of the agency are to be situated.
