Thames, Nov. 16. Saxon.— The manager has decided to say a trial parcel of quartz from the reef at No. 5 level and pub it through the battery so as to ascertain ite value. Twelve cases powder have just been obtained for the mine. The reet at No. 5 level has been ) broken down, fair bright, mineral showing, and also alongside a wntor-courso running through the reef near the winze, a few colours of gold were seen. Nkw \Manuk.u*. — Twenty-two tons of i dirfc were crushed la>o month Jrom Mulligan's leader for the return of 350z lOdwt of o-old. Last week Mulligan's leader showed signs of gold when breaking down, and 10lb picked stone were saved. A little gold has been left in the stope, a-ia Che lode is looking mo»e like it did on the No. 3 level. Mata G.ftl. Co.— lslbs of picked btone were obtained last night from the tccotid ftope on the leader west of the winze ut the low level.
Thames, Nov. 17. CoNsom. — This licensed holding, which is situated in the ITape Creek, was recently 'forfeited for non-working, and has bee.i purchased by Mr W. S. >'cCormick at the up»et price. It consists of 29\ acres, and application has been made to the Warden for a license. Cambria. — the crushing of 32 loads of cfuartz has pioduced sloks lOdwts melted gold. Saxon.— The reef at No. o level is being broken down from the face of the drive outwatds toward «« the shaft, at>d one or two colours of gold have been observed near the small "" watercourse. The quartz, however, is of similar quality a 5a 5 near the face of the drive. Ten kees of powder have been received, which will be sufficient for a tew days. The bioken pinion at the battery has been replaced by a new one, and the full force of stampers is again en paired reducing quartz. A trial lot of 20 loads is to be put through from j>>o 5 level. Deep Level Cro^s.— The trial crushing; of 101b has been almost finished. It is not payable, and work on the reef from which it was obtained will be discontinued and the men removed to prospect another leader. Coromaxoel, this day.
Royal. Oak. — Since last report the rise has been squared up, and I have again started to strip the reef, which is at present large throughout), showing gold in the foot- I wall side. The crushing was completed yesterday, and gave a return of 99ozs re- ' torted gold, from 1 ton of stuff and 200 pounds of picked stone and specimens The ton of general stuff y elded about 7ozs. The tribufcers are working on different reefs, and are getting a little gold in the Poverty. Rising in No. 2, they got about 20 pounds sfcone during the week.
