TE AROHA.
Champion G. and S. M. Co., Tui : At a meeting of the Colonial directors of this Company, held in Auckland on Monday last, Mr C. A. Comes (the discoverer of the prospectors reef) was appointed Mine Manager ; and it was decided to at once invite tenders for carrying on extensive works in various parts of the property, with a view to opening up the mine in a thorough and systematic manner. These works, for which tenders are invited in our columns to-day, will give constant employment to 24 men in the mine, whilst some half dozen more will be required to cut, prepare, and deliver the necessary timber, etc. We understand also that the Home directors have given their sanction to the construction of an aerial tramway, capable of delivering at least 50 tons of quarts per day of eight hours, estimated cost £1500. The Colonial directors are Messrs Adam Porter (chairman), J. H. Keep, John Chambers, Hon. E. Mitclielson, and Mr G. Beetham, M.H.R. With respect to the mine itself, we may state that it improves as work progresses, and where the latest works have been carried on is looking very well. For general information we append herewith some particulars in a condensed form with respect to the works, for the carrying out of which tenders are now invited.
