Formation ott Milk in the Udder. — Just how milk is formed in the udder is a yet complicated problem, says a writer, but the idea seems growing that the cow stores the blood in some form in the udder during the period between milkings, and that it is elaborated into milk in its passage through the mammillary glands at the time of milking. This is the belief of J. W. Kobertson, after several years study and experimental investigation. A singular confirmation of this is of a recently reported case of a heifer that gave milk from the beginning, the serums of which was blood with its full accompaniment of red corpuscles. Nature had not even filtered it in passing through the glands, a matter we see confirmed every little while _by a cow giving bloody milk. If milk is not elaborated blood, then bloody milk could not have an existence. This lasb sentence is nonsense, in our opinion.- Western Rural. [Yes, and in our opinion also. — Ed. N.Z.P.]
