AN ANGEL MESSAGE.

" Bn(. oh ! for the touch of a vanished hand. And the sound of a voice that is still." Tennyson.

In the twilight, dim and lonely, In Ihesolt and sacred gloom, I am scaled— waiting only For a stranyc but certain boon. And not vainly am I waiting: For her pi esence, though unseen, Comes, my weary heart elating With a gladness pure, serene. For by many an indication That is well-assured tome, Conies the mystic intimation Of the rapture yet to be. In those bonds of closer union Than we mortals know of here, I do hold a strange communion With an angel-spirit near • And the message she may bring me. Bears a sweetness move divine Than the songs she used to sing me In her earth Iy, youthful prime ! And each word and sentence tasted At this calm, sweet evening hour. With a purport is invested. With a sacred charm and power ; Telling me of the fruition Ot a pure and sinless love ; And a cci tain rcunilion In those radiant realms above ; Telling mo that pain and sorrow Close lor aye with earthly life ; And that Heaven's eternal morrow With a wondrous bliss is rife ! Tis the earnest of a rapture ; Ante-past most sweet of Heaven ! Far beyond what art or nature. Or what human erred hath given ; For it gives to faith assurance ; Unto truth the wished-for test. Unto love supremo endmvmce. Telling mo of Heaven and rest ! A, W. HURKY Holensville.
