The Home Government are now making guns which cost upwards of £20,000 each, and General Alderson has stated before the Army Estimates Committee that the cost of firmg 1 a single shot from, one of these guns would be over £200. It is by no means certain that the gun could be fired with safety ; it is quite certain that after every 150 rounds at the utmost it would have to be relined. This number of rounds would cost £30,000. and then there would be the expense of repairing the gun. Could there be imagined a moro expeditious plan for gett. ing rid of money wholesale ?
