WRECKED FISHERMEN.

A vessel arrived ab Gloucester Mass.* September 6th, from Iceland, reports great destruction among 1 the French fishing fleet on the south coast during the month of April. It is the cod fishing ground for France, and the whole fleet was concentrated in that locality. A terrible storm arose, and six vessels and their crews were engulfed. One other vessel was lost, subsequently with the captain and three men. The total number of sailors peiished is 137. Many vessels were so badly damaged they had to be abandoned. Three hundred men were left destitute in Iceland until a French steamer carried them away. They endured many hardships, the supply of food being limited. The fleet of fishing vessels on the I&landic coast was the largest known for years. The American vessels did well and suffered no disaster.
