CROSSING THE ATLANTIC IN A DORY.
Captain Andrews, who attempted to cross the Atlantic between New "Vorkand Liverpool in a dory called the Dark Secret, 14 feet 9 inches long, 5 feeb wide, and two feet deep, arrived at New York in in che Swedish bark 3STor, on Soptombor 11th. The vessel picked him up, August 19fch, in lat. 4618, long. 3950, in a deplorable condition. He was too weak to climb aboard without assistance, and unable to stand when he leached the deck. His clothes hung about him in strings, his boots were eaten full of holes by the salt water, he was dripping wet, and his body much emaciated. He had been two months arid a day alone on the ocean, and had accomplished about 55 miles more than half the way across when ho abandoned the trip. He says he will make the foolhardy attempt next year. ATTEMPT TO STEAL MAXWELL'S BODY. An attempt was made on the night of September 7fch to steal the body of Hugh Maxwell, alias Brooks, the murderer of Preller, recently executed in St. Louis, Mo. A watchman shot at three men in the cemetery near the grave, and after they fled iound a rope and grave-robbing tools.
