London, October 10. Mr Ellis Ashmead Bartlett, Civil Lord of the Admiralty, in the course Of a speech at Sheffield, said that the Admiralty had resolved to increase the strength of the Imperial navy.

London, October 11. Lord George Hamilton, First Lord of the Admiralty, speaking at Glasgow, said thai the construction of twentynine warships, aggregating 100,000 tons, would be completed in December next. He said that England ought to follow Australia's example and organise efficient bodies or vessels for the local defence of trade centres. Eight of the largest warships were awaiting guns, the production of which must be accelerated.

Paris, October 11. The demands of Admiral Krantz, Minister of Marine, for an increase in the Navy Estimates, have been conceded.
