FORFEITING CLAIMS FOR NONWORKING.
At the Warden's Court, Thames, on Thursday last, an application by A. Thomas for Silver King licensed holding, Whangamnta, which was at first withdrawn, was reinstated and subsequently granted. Protection was granted to J. Dickson for Eurekn, and to G.P, Qua.yle for the Sydney and Qiuiyle licensed holdings, Marototo. At the instance of the Mining, Inspector, Mr George Wilson, the following licensed holdings were declared forfeited on the : ground of non-working : Golden Crown, Caledonian, Musket, Kahinoor,Mic} as, Silver Crcwn, and United. The following hold* ings, against which applications for forfeiturehad been made, wore declared surrendered : Bonanza 1 imd 2, and OillTop ; f'nd thi3 following wore adjourned- to the 2jUi 'mas. : Exchange 1, 2, and 3, Emperor, Silver Crown, Ilnapuke. Brogan Extended No. 1, Brugen Extended No. 2, Nugget, Golden Point, and the Parakawai (Whangamata), the latter for one month.
f" On -Thursday last « Mr B. M. Gorbett (engineer for the Waihi G. M. Co.),' paid a visit, to AVnioron^ornni, and accompanied by Mr Adams, inspected tlie now works aow.in progress for the. To Arohu S. and Gk M. Company. Whilst' there, Mr Corbett • obtained .purticlilais oT'tlto rotary roaster, it being the intention oi : tho Wuihi G. M. Co. to construct a sitniliar one at Waihi. Mr Corbott informs us that the experiments conducted with Ihe kilns h»,v,o been urisatis£actory, as the stone was found not to be sufficiently calcined by that process, The rotary roasloi will therefore be introduced. Messrs Price Bros, will construct tho iron work, and ifc is expected to bo erected and in working order in tho course of three months. Until this additional plant is erected operations will be almost at a standstill.
