WAITOA ELECTION.
To-day the election iakes place for the return of a member to represent Waitoa Riding in Piako County Council, vice Mr C. Gould, resigned. Only two candidates are going tothe poll, viz., Messrs John Horrell and Jos. Bailey. Both these gentlemen are largely interested in the Riding they seek to represent ' r and both are very suitable candidates for the position to be filled, and would, we feel sure, as members, desire to act fairly and impartially., At the same time we are decidedly of opinion Mr Jas. Bailey has, ;by far, the strongest claims on the Selectors, at least from this side of the Riding. . A3 representative of the Auck'land Agricultural Company's Waitoa estate, he cannot be otherwise than specially interested in furthering the progress and prosperity of the Te Aroha aide of the Riding. Besides, it should 'be borne in* mind that portion of the Riding beyond Morrinsville already possesses two iresident members- in the Council, vfa., Messrs Chepmell and Browning ; ami it is only fair that this end of the district should have at least one representative in the Council, specially interested in its prosperity and advancement. -Fortbis reason, and without prejudice in any way to Mr Horrell, we certainly, agree 'with the opinions expressed t)y a correspondent,, (as published in another column), tbafe Mr Bailey should receive the support of al) Wartoa, and Te Aroha West electors. There will be polling booths both at Morrinsville and Waihou, o\ ening at 9 a.m., and closing at 6 p.m. ,
