DISASTROUS STORMS IN CHILE.
During a '• norther ' on the night of August 7th, two la ge barquct, ono English and the other French, bank in the haibouv of Valpatai^o a f tor having be n in collision. The crew of the English oe&s 1, consisting of seventeen hands and seven membeis of the French crew, ueic di owned. Fno vessels were blow n ashoie and da>hed to pieces. The lainfall in Valparaiso \\a^ enormous, and theic was much damage to houses and stores fiom the bursting of drains. Two engines and tlnee cais of a tiain, which left Santiago for Valparaiso on the 7th, at uiglit, fell into the mer while eros-ing the biidge. Two enoineeisi and one rii eman w ere di owned. Advices from Serena repoit much damage by the storm in that quai ter. A ieser\oir belonging to the Lenas Bicuery, in Valpaiaiso, buint on August 11th, and the piineipal stieets ot the city were flooded. Trailic was suspended. It is supposed that upwaids of 200 persons were di owned.
