Te Avoha S. and G. M. Co. :— The exhibits forwarded to Melbourne Exhibition Prom the Te Aroha S. and G. M. Co. include the following : Ten cases refractory ore from New Find mine ; five cases free milling ore, from same tniro ; two cases refractory ore, from May Queen mine ; three cases from Waiorongomai reef ; one case selected ore. The Co's property comprises 225 acres. The greatest depth worked on large reef 16 fecfc wide, is -150 Foefc ; the height of the reef at the New Find mine is 2064 foot above the level of the battery. The amount of ore treated from the dote of i commencing operations by tho former proprietors, Messrs Fiifh and Clark, Nov. Ist, 1883, up to 10th ulfc., amounts to 2§,976 tons, the yield of gold therefrom amounting to 27,0020i£5. Rapid progress has been made during the past couple of weeks with the work of clearing the sito for the new buildings, a large number of hands being employed. In the mines work is steadily progressing. Tregoweth and party are making fair progress with the work in connection with the 450 feet level j whilst in the 400 feet level Biownett and party are now able- to piish on more rapidly, the ground having changed considerably within the past week in the cross cut being put in, and is now much easier to work. Sou they and party are engaged in cross-cutting through the reeF, and the stone being broken out is very heavily mineralised, showing a considerable amount of lead. Stoping is being proceeded with on the Hero line of reef, beyond the Colonist boundary, and gold is seen in the quartz being broken out. Both battery and tailings-plant and furnace, are running on general dirt. Fair progress is being made by the contractors for the water race extension and tho work is progressing on sections 2, S, and 4 simultaneously, tho contractors being Messrs Montagilo, Wiseman, and Cook son, respectively. Five bricklayers arc engaged on the work of building the' condensing chambers and chimney stack for the revolving and rcverbcrutory furnaces. In fact all the works are being pushed on a3 fast as possible.
