OHINEMURI. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Paeroa, Tuesday.
There is little to report this week in mining matters. There is no change at W.iihi, things keeping on the even tdnor of their way to success. At Waitfckanri, the Saxon mine has been taken over by Mr John Read, of the Thames, '.vlio is leaving for Melbourne shortly, and will no doubt dispose of it to advantage. A road is to be made partly at the expense of the owners of the Jubilee and partly at the expense of Government, to the Jubilee claim. As soon as this is complete Mr Kersey Cooper will commence the erection of his plant. At Karangahake there is some disappointment at the value of gold obtained from the recent crushing of Heitman and party's dirt from the Woodstock, only 22s per oz being realised. ,Tho Adeline Amalgamated is to be started shoitly. Steady work is being 1 continued in the Ivanhoe and Trnro under the supervision of Mr Jno. McCombie. Very dispiriting rosults continue to b.T received from Maro f oto. It is stated on good authority that a large proportion of the money which was to have been spent at Marototo, will be expended in prospecting between that plaoo and Wfiitekauii, where some first class indication of the presence of payable reefs have been found recently. Mr Geo. Gapes, of Waiorongomai, is the successful tenderer for the varnishing, etc. of the interior of the County offices at 8d per yard. The allotments belonging to the County on which the offices have been erected are being fenced in, and as soon as the painters have finished the offices will be entered by the Council.
