CROFTER SETTLEMENTS IN NEW ZEALAND. MR W. L. REES'S PROPOSALS. London, September 9.

Mr W. L. Rees is proposing a scheme of crofter immigration to New Zealand. He proposes to establish fi\e colonies, including 8,000 souls, in several parts of Cook County, on the Eist Coast of the North Island. The requisite capital is estimated at half-a-million, of which the public will be asked to subscribe and Maoris Government will be asked to find balance of it or it will bt raised bv means of debentures. Mr Kees has lequested the Agents-General to support the scheme, and he is arranging fot a meeting of New Zealand colonists in London to consider his proposals. Wi Peie undertakes to have two millions of acres of land in the North Island ot New Zealand opened up for settlement, if Mr Rees succeeds in his scheme.
