THE MINERS' STRIKE. A COAL MINE ON FIRE. PACIFIC NEGOTIATIONS.
Sydney, September 4. Thirty vessels have discharged their crews in consequence of the INewca?tle strike. One of the principal Southern coal mines was discovered to be on firo to day, and it is suspected thai some of the men on strike are concerned in the a flair. The fire was fortunately extinguished before much damago was done. Owing to the exertions of the Minister of Lands, a conference between the coal master:- and mineLS on the matters in dispute has been arranged. MjiLjJoujtNJi, September 4. There are now fully a thousand whart bands out of employment, owing to the Newca&ble strike.
