A STORMY PASSAGE. Timaru, September 1.

The barquentine Clytie arrived from Newcastle last night via Foveaux Strait. She experienced very rough weather all the way to the Strait. Several sails were split and carried away. The deck was constantly wet, and the crew suffered much from exposure and wet, being unable to dry their clothes. All but the captain and cook were laid up off and on with colds and swollen feot and hands. On Saturday, a heavy sea broke aboard and did considerable damage, and injured the mate by dashing him against the pumps.

The British budget shows £57,000 tor extra police for the year, in consequence cf Lhe dynamite scare.
