THE MINERS' ATTITUDE.

Sydney, August 23. The Newcastle coal miners decline to withdraw from the position which they have taken up. They express themselves willing, however, to meet their employers openly and discuss terms of agreement without the intervention of a third party. They stipulate that if the masters to-day signify their acquiescence in this proposal, the Miners' Union will suspend action for two weeks to see if any agreement results from the negotiations.
