BRASS BAND BALL.

On Wednesday evening last a very successful ball was given in the Public Hall, the proceeds of -which are to be devoted towards the purchasing of music and other necessaries for the Te Aroha Brass Band. The hall was most articticnlly decorated \»itii flags, evergreen, and festoons, and when the company were all assembled the scene was a most animated one. There were some forty couples present, and dancing was commenced at half past eight o'clock, and kept up until about four o'clock in the morning. The members of the band supplied the mnsic under the guidance jof Mr 0. Everitt, and Mr H. Mace acted as M.O. in his usual efficient manner. The supper was seivod from tMr W. Dibsell's establishment in firsli class style, the tasteful wands being highly appreciated by all. AmonssL those present were sev^il visitor 1 * from Paeroa, Waitoa, and To Aioha West. All the preliminary arrangements ineoni nection with the ball wore conducted by Mr 0, Everitt, and to him much of the success of the ball is due. We understand that the proceeds will suffice to purchase all requisites for the forthcoming season. The conductor (Mr 0. Everitt) is about to subscribe to Smith's Brass Band Journal, which comes out in monthly parts and contains an excellent assortment of band pieces, so that by the summer months our lo'-al musicians should have a number of tuneful airs at their disposal. There arc nine instruments in the band, and the performers arc :—: — Messrs C Everitt (conductor), A. H. Whitehonse (solo cornet), A. Everitt (second cornet), C. Balcke (third cornet), T». Cannell (bombardon), G. Dcvoy (btuifonc). W. Beresford (first horn), "D. Pearson.! (second horn), and IL Kirby (ephonion). The band also possesses three drums. ]
