AUSTRALIAN FLOCKS AND HERDS.
A return tabled by the Premier in the New South Wale 3 Assembly recently gave the number of live stock in the Australasian colonies on March 31, last as follows : — New South Wales : Sheep, 46,965,152; horned cattle, 1,575.487 ; horses, 390,609 ; pigs, 264,111; total, 49,195,359. Victoiia: Sheep, 10,623,985 ; horned cattle, 1,333,873: horses, 315,000 ; pigs, 243,461 ; total, 12,516,319. Queensland : Sheep, 12,926,158; horned cattle, 4,473,716 ; horses, 305,865 ; pigs, 73,663 ; total, 17,779,402. South Australia : Sheep, 7,254,000; horned cattle, 440,000; horses, 170,000; pigs, 179,000; total, 8,043,000. Western Australia : Sheep, 1,989,978 ; horned cattle, 97,079 ; horses, 42,196 ; pigs, 27,120 ; total, 2,156,373. Tasmania: Sheep, 1,547,242; horned cattle, 147,092 ; horses, 29,528 ; pigs, 52,408; total, 1,776,270. New Zealand : Sheep, 16,677,445 ; horned cattle, 895,461 ; horses, 137,382 ; pigs, 369,991, total, 18,130,279. Totals: 5heep, 97.953, 960; horned cattle, 8,962,708 ; horses, 1,440 580 • pigs, 1,209,754. Grand total : 109,597,000.
