DR. WRIGHTS APPOINTMENT.

Dr. Alf. Wright, who since he came to reside at To Aroha, a year or so ago, has evinced such a great interest in the developement of its thermal springs, respecting the remark ahle curative properties of which ho lias formed a very hicjli opinion — lias gone to settle at Westport. During his residence amongst us, the Dr. made many fast friends from amongst invalids and others who have resorted to To Aroha in search of health, and derived groat benefit under Dr. Wrights treatment and advice in regard to the use of the baths ; amongst these were several gentlemen of influence, who, having foi mod an exceedingly high opinion, of Dr Wrights abilities as a medical man, have since been intcicsting themselves in his behalf desiring to see him stationed where he would have a widar sphere of action and have a more luciative piacticc than it appeared so young a place as Te Aroha could offer for some time to come. Various good appiontments have been offered him dvi ing the past few months, but the Dr., until a few weeks ago, declined io leave Te Aroha. However, a week or so ago, in response to an urgent telegram from some of his friends, ho went south to Nelson, Wellington, etc., and the result of his visit is thnt he lias accepted the appointment of hospital surgeon to W^stport Hospital, also succeeding to the practice of the late Dr. Thorn, of the same place. Together, we understand, these two appointments are worth about £1000 a year. His departure will be a great loss to Te Aroha, as he took a very great interest in the place, and is a thorough believer that a great future awaits it as a sanatorium ; but whilst greatly regretting his departure, mc, with his many other friends congratulate him on receiving such a valuable appointment and Westport on obtaining the services of such a highly-qualiiied medical man. Mrs Wright informs us the Dr, is not likely to return, having to enter on the practice forthwith, and that he has telegraphed her to join him as soon as she can conveniently do so.
