SHOCKING SUICIDE NEAR MELBOURNE. Decapitated on the Railway.
The driver of the 6.30 train from St. Kilda to Melbourne reported that he had noticed a dark object) on the line a quarter of a mile on the south side of the Albert) Park station. A porter was sent to see what the object was. He found the headless trunk of Eva Charlotte Elwortby, daughter of James Elwoithy, of Port Melbourne. The body was lying face downwards, and the clothes were covered with heavy frost There were no signs of violence or of a struggle having taken place, and death must have been instantaneous. The deceased was 22 years of age. About 10 o'clock on Monday nighb, when the family retired, she bade them good-night in the usual manner, and was not sesn alive again. No one heard her leave the house. This morning she was missed, and it was found that her bed had not been slept, in. At the inquest the jury retui-ned a verdict of suicide. Some months ago a sieter of the deceased was drowned, and deceased had been much depressed ever since.
