The German New Guinea Company's s,e. Ysabel has arrived at Cooktown, and brings the following summary of news :—: — Bartholemy Employ died of fever at JTinchhaven. The New Island natives have killed one white and one native man belonging to a parfcy engaged in exploration. Herring Langc, Mark and Scheme! , who weie journeying overland from jVlatupi to see the countiy, were surprised by natives armed with Sniders and spears. All three were wounded, Herring being shot through the arm, the bullet lodging in his back. By the time they reached Finchhaven the wound had to be re-opened, and the bullet was extracted. The patient ii progressing favourably. The other two also recovered.
