AUSTRALIAN A QUATICS.

Tlic vi*it of Edwaid Han lan to Biibbane and Rockhampton has created quite an excitement in aquatic circles in Queensland. The returned aquatic repre&entativob who have been to see the contest on the Fitzroy River are loud in praise of the universal hospitality shown them in the " central capital," and during their short sojourn at Brisbane. .At Rockhampton it is proposed to hold an intci national fcullinjr lace during next year, and already a considerable sum has been subscribed in order to make the prize one worthy of drawing the piofessional aquatic talent of the world to compete for. Mr J. o>. Deeble v whose experience in these matters is probably secoud to none, will draft a set of mles undei -which &uch a contest would meet with the entire approval of the public, and will place them before a committee of Roekhanipton gentlemen, who are anxious to carry the matter through. It is proposed to make the hrst prize £1000, and to have second and third prizes in proportion to this amount, ptobably C5OO and £200. It is g 1 nerally believed that such a libeial oiler would bring together P. Kemp, E. Hanlan, J. Teenier, J. (Juadaur, (!. B u bear, W. Ross, A. Hamm, Coiutney, Neil Mattei*son, C. Nelson, T. Clifloid, O. Perkins, .1. Slanfebury, IT E Searle, H. Wulfc, and it is probable that even' the redoubtable invincible ox-champion William Beach might be induced to come away from his home at Dapto and enter the lists again.
