PO LICE COURT. TE AROHA . TUESDAY, JUNE 19th, 1888.

(Before 11. W. Northcroft, Esq , It.M.) Riding on Footpaths, To Aroha. — Goo. Graves and Wm. Rowe, jnnr., were charged on the information of John Dare, Inspector of Nuisances, Te Aroha, with a breach of the Police Offences Act, by riding on the footpath in Rewi street, To Aroha. Both defendants pleaded guilty, but said they only roue on the footpurh a short distance to avoid a swampy place in the road. Mr Dare said he only desired that a nominal penalty be inflicted ; these being the first summonses issued with respect to iliis offence, but a great deal of riding on footpaths took place, and it was desired to put a stop to it. Defendants were each fined Is and 7s costs.
