AUDIT OF COUNTRY ACCOUNTS.
Owing to recent regulations respecting the audits of the accounts of local bodies, it has been found that the time allowed by the Counties Act will not allow of much correspondence w ith Wellington if the audit department desire any explanation about matters appearing on balance sheets, and it is probable that several county councils will want an extension of the time fixed for holding the annual meeting. Mr Cadman has arranged for an Order-in-Couneil on bellalf of tho (Joromandol County Council to extend the time on their behalf until the middle of July, which will appear in next (ia/ettc. Ke hat? also suggested to the Colonial Secrolaiy to insert a clause in the Counties' Act amendment now before the House.
