The Sergeant also urged that keeping open public houses in a place like Te Aroha simply meant more dunking and diunkennes3 necessitating moie police surveillance, and was generally aoainst the interest and welfare of the place. Mr JJaumo on behalf of the applicant, said, after the remarks from the Sergeant, he would wish at once to withdraw the I application for extension of hour*, as the applicant had no wish whatover to occasion any inconvenience or be a means of giving extra work to the police.
