George Kenny wns charged by Sergeant ftmer«on with (1) being drunk and disordeily in \V hi taker sheet, To Aroha, on June 9th. (2) "With making use of obscene languageiii a public place, to wit Wbitakcr street, To Aroha, on same date. ( ",)) With resisting and assaulting Sergeant Emerson in the execution of bis duty at To Arolia, on same date, Prisoner pleaded guilty to each charge. The Sergeant slated that wlrlst the prisoner's omiluct was veiy bad, still be was so drunk as not to know what he was doing, and ho Avould not therefore press for a heavy sentence. It appeared pii<-oner gave a lot of trouble when being arrested, having to be handcuffed, and requiring 1 three persons to convey him to the lock up. The prisoner was convicted in May, 1887, lor somewhat similar conduct at To Aroha, and sent to gaol for three month*. Fined XI and co^b, or in default one wcek\ imprisonment with hard labour for the fir^t offence. Sentenced to tno months' imprisonment with hard labour in Auckland public pii-on for the second offence.
