STRUCK DUMB.
Wklungton", June 8. A circi mstam i- of a singular nature (says the "Post") has caused considerable talk in Kaivarra during the past few days. On Suture' ay week a man named Edward Igguklen, living in that township, who was for home years employed as a porter by Mcjsis Wilson and Richardson, drapers and clothiers, but who has latterly been in the bervice of Messrs Davis and Co. , Queen's. Chambers, was hist -ueted by the latter firm to go to Pahautanui with ti quantity of goods. He went out to Paramatta by train, and was walking along the road towards Pahautanui, when he met a man, who made some remark to him. fvjrulden endeavoured to make a reply, but to hi;, horror he di&coNered that lie had lost the power of .speech, and he has remained dumb ever since. His sen»e of heaving i& as good as ever, but lie can't speak a word, ami \a obliged to make himself understood by writing. The man hab placed himself under the cave of Dr. Kemp, who. it i* to be hoped, will duccced in re-storing the lost power. I^trulden i.s a married man with a family.
