The above sports wore held at Tauwhare on Easter Monday. There was but a very limited attendance, and a good deal of ill-feeling prevailed owing to a series of mistakes which were laid at the door of (he committee. The handicaps had never been published and some of them entered had not been handicapped at all. Local Cup, of .£;>, 2nd 15s, 7 starters. Ist stage, Connely I&t, Bo wen 2nd, Harding 3rd. 2nd stage. Bowen Ist, Shaw 2nd, Hauling Srd. 3rd stage, Shaw Ist,, Jjowen 2nd, Connely Srd. Eowen thus won with 8 points to Shaws G. Hop, Step, and Jump. Warren Ist, Simmons 2nd. Three Legged Race. Simmons and X u sabs Ist. Sack .Race, Potter Ist, Bowloy 2nd. Local 200 yds. Shaw Ist, Bowen 2nd. Local Hurdles. Shaw Ist, Connely 2nd. Open Hurdles. McKinnon Ist, Warren 2nd, Simmons 3rd. A protest was lodged against the winner on account of running inside a post. A number of spectators including one of the judges stated they saw him do so. The committee met and after hearing the evidence dismissed the protest, stating that they did net think it would have altered the result.
