April 5^ An action iov breach of promise of marriage had been fixed ior hearing at the Supreme Court to-day, but auu- settled before it was called on. The case wab of interest to Aucklaiulers, inasmuch as the plaintiff, His Ellen Tlardmjr, was recently licensee of the Occidental Hotei, Vulcan Lane, while John Compton, detendant, had also been a le&ident in your city for sums time. Damages were laid at L'soo.
