MEETING AT WAIORONGOMAI
On Thursday evening last n public meeting was lickl at Mr Smardon's hotel, Waiorongonmi. Tiiero was a lwgc attendance. Mr T. Gavin presided, and briefly stated the object the mooting had boon convened for, viz., to discuss what would be the best means of giving expression to the feeling that prevailed, that Mr Adams, who bad promptly communicntod with Mr W. H. Wilson (of Broken Hill propriotoiy) on \\\< anival in Auckland, induced him (o co-no and inspect the mines, etc., at Waiorongomai, and otherwise rendered valuable assistance towards the introduction of foiuiifu capital into this portion of the goldfield, was deserving that his efforts in this direction receive public recognition. The chairman further stated that it was desired that Me«sis ' Firth and Clarice, the owners of the propei ty di? posed of to Mr Wil-iou, and who have expended larije sums oi money in the dhtiict in connection with the mining industry, should be prosent. Those, trentlemon had therefore been wired to, inviting them toa banquet to be given in commemoration oi the pale of the Woiorongomai battery company's property ; but had replied stating they would not be able to be present. Alter a lengthy u : scu^ion a number of resolutions were passed, including the following: That Messrs lliist, Unvin, Me Liver, J. G>ldsworthy, senr.. D. K. Clark, llott, J.
