AN OVERLAND TRAVELLER. Adelaide, March 26. Mr (.rant, a New Zealand pastoralist, has an Led at lort Augusta overland from Albarij. He had a splendid trip, meeting with plenty oi teed and water. He brought .some hn^es with him in excellent condition. Re think- that the whole region will be good pastoial country, though unlit for ugiiculture. Mr Clrant had previously travelled overland from Derby to Perth.

Aix'kland, March 26. Mr.'. B. Morpeth died ab his residence in Poiiionby ti-otn typhoid fever {it half past bv/o o'clock yestetdoy afternoon. His life was despaired of about a, week a^o, but his condition changed for the better, and (strong hope* oi his recovery were entertained. He, however, suffered a relapse yesterday, with tho sad result recorded. Theillnes>3\\as firsfcfelt by Mr Morpeth at the opening of the Calliope Dock, which he attended a-> captain of the Ponsonby Naval Volunteer. JHe letb home without breakfast, and dming- the day declined to accept refreshment when no provision had been made tor the entertainment ot his men. fie, however, took an iced drink \% hitc thirsty, atid symptoms of illness made themselves apparent soon afterwards. .Mr Morpeth, however, did not absent himself f.-om hi* business until the didca.se had obtained a iirm hold upon him Deceased came from Prince Edward Island in 1859 with lih fahher, and subsequently served with the Auckland Volunteers in tho Waikato Campaign, for which servic* he was the recipient of a medal. On the formation of the Ponsonby Navals, he was elected captain, and held that position till the tims ot his death. Deceased was a wellknown sharebroker, and was held in high esteem in business and social circles. He leaves a v/idow, who is a daughter of Captain Latnbsvt, &iA one son.
