A FASHIONABLE EVENT.
Dunediv, Match 21. A socivl event which oxcited a- deal of in" terest took place yesterday at two of lock, in the marriage of Mr Mills, member tor Port Chalmcis and managing diiector of the Union Steamship Company, to Mi c s Sadie Gertrude Josberry. Tie Rev. A. K. Fitchetl conducted the ceremony in the presence of a large congregation. There M)ti»t have beon over 2,000 per-ons assembled, for the church was over-crowded. A compact ma"!? of people blocked up Use porch and approaches to the building, and both sides of the street weie lined for a considerablo distance. The bride was given away by her bi other- in law, Dr. Maunsell. The four principal bridesmaids were Miss Annie Cargill, Miss Petre, Miss Tabarfc. and Miss Rich, while three young nieces of the btide — Miss Kathleen Maunscll, Miss Lylie Maunsell, and Miss Olive Kettle— were also in attendance, and the bride's party was made complete by the presence of Miss Isabel Mills and Miss Bailer, sister and niece of the bridegroom. Mr John Cook acted as groomsman, and the other personal friends of the bridegtoom present were Messrs George Cook, Thos. Biydone, Jns. Reid, Jno. Hocking, David Crawfoid, and 0. A. Fen wick. As to the dresses, the biide was attired for the ceremony in a bodice and train of Ottoman sti iped velvet, a petticoat of v hite Ottoman silk draped with Limerick lace, a tulle veil, ornaments of peail and diamonds. The veil was fastened with a pearl and diamond star, the gift of the bridegroom. The four chief bridesmaids were dressed alike — bodice and fkiit of coral liberte silk with waterfall back of coral gossamer, nut brown tulle hat, ooial ribbon bows, and autumn leave?, posies of pink begonia, and autumn leaves. The loser bridesmaids wore white cre"pe dresses with lace flounces, coral liberte silk sashes, white crfipe hats, posies ol pink and white flowers. All the bridesmaid? had gold initial brooches given to them, the children having the initials in pearls. The presents made a very fine display. Prominent among the gifts was a costly diamond and sapphire bracelet, sent by (.lie members of the Club.
