LATEST MINING NEWS. Tui Creek Mines.
, Tk Aiioha, March 22. A number of fresh claima have been appliod for and pegged out on Tui creek. during 1 the past few days. Feeling is decidedly very hopeful of bhe piospects of mining in this district. Mr Noithcroffc hold the Wai dens Court, yesterday, and more thun ono application was made in eacii cabe for right t.o occupy forfeited licensed holdings at Waiorongomai, viz., Werahiko and five others which comprised what was formerly known as Waiorongomai gold mine. The Warden fixed April 10th as the day on which he would &ell the right to occupy ta the highest bidder. Probably there will be great competition. The ground is adjacent to the Silver King, from which such valuable .stone is now being obtained. A large amount of dead work Ims been done in the claim forfeited. Capitalists and others interested should not let this exceptional opportunity slip of obtaining ground likely to prove very valuable.
Thames, March 22. Thk parcel of ore from Whangamata, at present being treated by Piico Bros, at the Kurunui Battery, is shaping for a good return, being valued at £90 or £100 per ton. Tuknton. - The machinery at the Moanataiori Extended shaft, recently purchasedjby the Trenton Company, is to be moved to the latter's shafbonthc Waiotahi Spur at an early date. The sinking of the shafb will probably be then proceeded with. Saxox. — There are 5700zs of amalgam on hand. Camimua. — 351bs of picked stone were obtained to-day from the 10 bh stope on the No. 6 leader.
Paeuoa, March 22. The late heavy rain has had the effect of starting quite a number of batteries which have been idle for some time past owing to short water supply at Karangahake. Ivamiok. — The battery is. now running on a parcel of quartz belonging to Heittnan and patty, tributers ot tho Woodstock mine. This lot amounts to about 100 tons, and the return therefrom will not bo far short of 2ozs to the ton. Tlailoy's mill, in the same district, is also fully employed in the reduction of ore from the Monastery mine, and it is expected that the clean-up, which will take place about/ the end of the week, will result in a remuneialive xoturn.
