A terrible tragic ocurrence happened on Saturday at the close of the performance of "Faust" at the Princess Theatre, Melbourne. Mr F. Frederici, the well-known operatic artist, wasacting as Mephistophlea, andwhenhe was disappearing down the trap, dragging Faust with him, amidst coloured fires, he suddenly dropped off the trap, dragging Mr Leumame, who acted Faust?, with him. Mr Frederici had evidently been attacked by heart disease, for he never recovered consciousness, dying in about 40 minutes. The tragic occurrence waa not seen by the audience, who left in perfect ignorance. Mr Frederici had been suffering from heart disease for some timo, and the excitement of appearing in the new character of Mephistopheles was evidently oo much for him.
