Presently the father came into tho room, and before leaving for his day's work locked the safe, the child keeping silence the while, Soon the little fellow was missed ; the police were called in, and a hue and cry raised. Next morning- the father opened the safe — to find his son a corpse. The moral, of course, is obvious ; but the story is horrible,
