The flag fell to a fair start, bub before the field had gone 20 yards Maratau shot to the front, and soon placed a gap of half-a dozen lengths between herself and tho remainder of the Held, the most prominent of whom were The Cat <md Formo. As they turned into the straight, the field closed up a bit on Maratau, and passing the stand she led the Cat and Formo by three lengths, Friendship being fourth and Leorina last. Maratau continued to make the running round the back of the course, but at the far side both Formo and The Cat died away. Leorina and Friendship here moved up to the leader, but the first named was soon afterwards in trouble, and Friendship got on terms with Maratau. Entering the turn for home, Friendship was seen to have a bit the best of it, and although Maratau struggled on gamely to the end, she could not get up to Friendship, who won rather easily by a length and a half, with something in hand. Patchwork and Monitor raced pretty well on terms | throughout the journey till the last hurdle in the straight was reached, when Monitor drew away and won by a couple of lengths.
