Messrs Arthur & Buddles AYekkly Rkport.— Bu&iiiess during the week has been brisk. A very large quantity of produce and fruit lias been entered, and all cleared. Prices for produce show but little alteration from last week's quotations, but for fruit the average value is higher. For fresh butter of good quality there is a ready sale. Good salt is also in demand, but little has comoforwarddurinu the week. Potatoes and onions remain at previous quotations ; a considerable quantity has come forward. Cheese has been in good supply, and all of the better class ha& found buyers at from 2Jd to 3^'J. A lot of infeiior has been cleared oil' at low prices. A good business has been clone in bacon and hams afc last week's values. Our three fruit sales have been large'y attended, and prices for pears and nil soft fruits show aiv improvement. In the furniture and grocery departments, business has been better. Wednesday's sale of furniture at the mart wiio hugely attended, and prices on the whole were fairly satisfactory. A balance of grocery stock sold on Fiiday realised well. The sales of groceries a".d oilmen's stores in Greystreet on Tiiosd-xy, and of furniture at Ponf>onby on Wednesday, and Suriey Hills on Thursday, were all well attended. Competition brisk, and results generally satisfactory. Friday s market sale passed off well. Entries wore very numerous and bidding lively. Poultry and pigs were entered in good numbers, prices realised being up to last week s quotations. The attendance throughout the day was very numerous, and selling was nob o\er till 6 o'clock. Sound, clean fruit showed a slight improvement. Butter shows an increasing demand ; the supply of good was small. Cheese : Good quality is asked for ; inferior is neglected at low prices. Potatoes are a drug, .supplies are far too heavy, which will not allow a rise to take place.
