WAI TO A.
The report that has pot into circulation that the ChrisHiurch syndicate, who purchased Mr J, B. Smith's Waitoa property, had suspended operations, and given the place' est,' is at variance with the real facts. True, the test plant has ctnsed working, at least for a time, but extensive boring operations have been carried on, and a number of holes have i been put down to a depth of 40 Feet, the full length the boring rods available would permit, and so far, we believe, but ! little encouragement has been met with. But having taken the matter of testing the deposit in hand, the syndicate, it would appear, are determined to carry it through in a thorough manner, and recently ordered boring apparatus from the south, capable of testing the ground to a depth of 200 feet. These rods arrived last week, and the work of boring will be re- commenced so soon as instructions to that effect come to baud, and it is to be hoped will bo attended with more satisfactory results this time.
