Tine fiist portion of tlie Wailii G.M. Co.'s machineiy fiom San Fiancisco anived per Kotuku on Thursday last at Paeroa. This poition of the plant consists of a pan and settler process, comprising seven pans and two settlers. The castings are all very well made and extremely clean. In till there are about 38i tons in this consignment. Messrs Dickey ami Vcir.m, of Thames, the successful tenderers Cor the haulage of Ibis lot to Wailu, started on Satin day to cart the machinery out. A second shipment it as to have arrived in Auckland per Coptic on Sunday. This is the English portion, and comprises a variety of plants among which it is s-ud will be a Globe crusher. This shipment will consist of upwaids of 100 tons, and will be bi ought on to Paeroa by the Kotuku, in two or three different lots. At Maiototo matters are somewhat quiet there now being a sort of interregnum in the Prospector's claim, between the reigns of the Into ownerw and the new Sydney Company. Mr John H. Moore, the manager,* is, however, opening up on the two "shows," and gold is allowing freelyat eveiy bi caking 1 down. The dirt is bein^ sorted, the bater piution being reserved for treatment at Sydney or elsewhere. Ground is being pegged outin all directions.
