Sydney, February 10. A serious acoident happened to-day at), the Oakley Colliery, Lithgow. A " bucket " containing a number of miners was ascending to the mouth of the pit, when by some mishap it struck a timber in the shaft. Three of the men were thrown out of tho " bucket'! by the forco of the collision, and precipitated a distance of forty feet to the bottom of the pit. All had either legs or arms broken, and one man is not expected to recover from his injuries. Fortunately^ the accident happoned when only a short distance of the journey to the mouth of tho pit had been accomplished, or those who were thrown from the " bucket" must have been instantaneously killed.

Sydney, February 12. It has been ascertained that Peel, the engineer of tho steam launch which was capsized, has been drowned. He is reported to have sunk immediately the accident occurred. Another one who is believed to have been on board is missing.
