Nelson has been installed first favourite for the Australian Cup, Ten to one is wanted straight out, but there are no layers at that price. Major George's horse, however, is largely booked in doubles at thousands to five. Trident has been scratched for the Cup. The acceptances for the Australian Cup number thirty-four, including Trenton, Nelson, Niagara, Ben Bolt, Enfilade, Malua, Spade Guinea, Dunlop and Australian Peer. There are seventy-four acceptances for the Newmarket Handicap.
