ANNIVERSARY DAY. LAND EXCURSIONS. Auckland, January 29th.
E akly this morning numerous vehicles were leaving the city, and taking roads to various resorts of picnickers. A large picnic party composed of the teachers and senior scholars of the Newton Congregational Sunday-school left Karangahape Road *bout nine o'clock en route for Mangere, where an enjoyable day was spent in Mr Washer's paddocks. Several 'bus loads of pleasure-seekers also left the city at an early hour for Waitakerei Ranges; The fir3t train for Kaipara also took out a large number of intending visitors to the Waitakerei Falls, the majority of the excursionists getting off at Henderson station. In addition to these there were numbers of private conveyances carrying out families towards the country. One dr two small Sunday schools also had private picnics.
