Newcastle Mines Not Working Full Time.
The Charleston miners, who are doveloping a new mine for the Waratah Company, have decided to make application for em-oi-menb into the Miners' Association. Tho general secretary attended a meeting ab the pit top, and completed the foimalities. Most of the miners continue working short time. The demand for coal is not less on the whole, but the opening of new mines during the last) two years has more than kept pace with increasing requirements, so that latterly the orders have not been sufficient to keep all fully employed. Some of tho oldest mines are working less than half time on the average, and the whole community suffers from consequent scarcity of money in proportion to the mining population.
