Government Resident at Thursday Island receh cd a iologram from Mr Frank Jardine, at Someiscfc, as follows :— The blacks report the capture of .sharp-steined schooner-rigged boat, and the murder of her crew in Miugavet Bay, near Grenville. The description suggests that it was Steve Clark and party. The Government Resident has ordered the steamer Albatross to proceed to the scene, with aIL the available police. They have started in pursuit. Steve Clark let t Thursday Island rccantly in a ciaft of a 'similar description named the " 131ack-h'e>h," and had one Alan ilia man and two Fapcoe Kiver boys as a crew.. Simultaneously a report was received of another depredation which occurred afc Friday Island, where five natives employed on a neighbouring pearling station paddled across during the" night, and stole a valuable critter, the property ot Collis and Molloy, and made oil with her, presumably for iMayland. Both afiairs have produced sUong indignation.
